CPS Test — Complete Guide to Clicks Per Second

The CPS test (Clicks Per Second test) measures how many times you can click your mouse in a given time period. It divides your total clicks by the elapsed seconds to give you your CPS score. This online click speed test is the most accurate free browser-based tool to track your clicking performance.

Whether you are testing for Minecraft PvP, trying to improve your Kohi click score, practicing jitter clicking, or just curious about your baseline mouse speed, this tool tracks everything in real time.

What is the Kohi Click Test?

The Kohi click test is a 10-second clicking challenge that originated from the Kohi Minecraft server. Players used it to benchmark their PvP clicking speed. The standard test runs for exactly 10 seconds. Our tool replicates this exactly with the Kohi mode — select it from the mode tabs above and run a 10-second test.

How to Improve Your CPS Score

Start by confirming your technique is solid for regular clicking. Keep your hand relaxed — tension reduces speed. Use your fingertip, not the pad, for faster movement. A mouse with a light click mechanism registers clicks with less force required, which directly translates to higher CPS. Practice in short 5-second burst sessions rather than fatiguing yourself with long runs.

For jitter clicking, start slowly by tensing your forearm slightly while clicking. Build up the vibration gradually over days — pushing too hard too fast causes wrist and arm strain. Never jitter click for more than a few minutes at a time.

Does CPS Matter in Gaming?

In Minecraft Java PvP (1.8), higher CPS increases the knockback you deal when hitting enemies. Above 14 CPS, the advantage becomes marginal. In modern Minecraft versions, attack cooldowns exist, so raw CPS matters very little. In FPS games like Valorant, CS2, or Apex Legends, aim accuracy and reaction time matter far more than click speed. In browser clicker games, CPS is everything.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good CPS score for gaming?

For Minecraft PvP, 8–14 CPS with regular clicking is competitive. Above 14 CPS usually requires jitter or butterfly clicking. For most other games, raw CPS score is irrelevant — accuracy and reaction time matter more.

Is the CPS test accurate?

Yes. The tool records every mousedown event with performance.now() timestamps for high precision. CPS is calculated by dividing total clicks by elapsed seconds. The only variable is your browser and system's event processing latency, which is typically under 1ms on modern hardware.

Can I use an auto-clicker to cheat the test?

Yes, you technically can, but it defeats the purpose. This tool exists to measure your actual human clicking ability. Auto-clickers produce perfectly uniform intervals that look nothing like human clicking patterns. The leaderboard is for honest results only.

What mouse is best for a high CPS score?

Mice with lightweight click switches (like Kailh GM 8.0 or Omron D2FC-F-7N at 0.45N) register clicks with minimal force. This lets your fingers move faster. Mice popular for high CPS include the Razer DeathAdder V3, Logitech G Pro X Superlight, and Endgame Gear XM1r.

Is jitter clicking bad for your health?

Jitter clicking with excessive tension for long periods can cause repetitive strain injuries (RSI), wrist tendinitis, and carpal tunnel symptoms. Always take breaks, limit sessions to a few minutes, and stop immediately if you feel pain or numbness. Regular clicking is always safer than jitter or butterfly techniques.

What is the world record for CPS?

With drag clicking, some players have reported 50+ CPS. For regular human clicking (no special techniques), 14–16 CPS is considered near the human limit. Jitter and butterfly clicking allow most people to reach 16–25 CPS with practice.
